It is with great sadness that we report the death of club stalwart John Phillips on Saturday 4 July 2020.
Born in the Rhondda Valley but moving to the Midlands, John took up a position as Head Coach with Coventry Welsh in the early 1970s and then moved to The Nuns as Head Coach in the 1975-76 season.
John coached for many years until becoming Chairman of Selectors in 1979 and then from 1982 Match Secretary, a position he kept until 1991 when he became 1st XV Manager.
In 1981-82 John was awarded Clubman of the Year to mark his work for the Club as Coach, Match Secretary and Press Officer. John was also an Honorary Life Member, a tribute bestowed upon him to record his immense services to the Nuns.
Our thoughts are with John’s family.
